Care guide

A cloth. That's the maintenance.

Colour lives inside the coating rather than on top of it, so there's no varnish to yellow and no print to peel. Everything below is really just about keeping the gloss looking like the day it arrived.

  • Won't peel or yellow
  • Water-resistant
  • No polish required

Everyday cleaning

Go on, wipe it.

This one's covered in fingerprints. Choose something to clean it with and drag across the plate - the right cloth takes it all off, and the wrong one shows you why we ask you not to.

Nothing here can damage a real plate. The scratches lift after a moment.

Why there's so little to do

Wind it forward twenty years.

The same picture, printed two ways. Drag the handle and watch which one ages.

Today

An illustration, not a photograph of an aged print - how quickly paper goes depends on light, damp and luck. The mechanism is the real point: sublimated colour sits inside the coating, so there's nothing on top to yellow, lift or flake.

The rest of it

Three things worth knowing.

Where it can live

Aluminium doesn't warp in humidity, so kitchens and bathrooms are fine - steam isn't the enemy. Constant direct sunlight is the one place worth avoiding, simply to keep the depth of the colour over decades.

The magnets

Keep the magnet on the wall and the marked square on the back of the plate clean and dry, and the hold stays as strong as day one. Dust between the two is the only thing that weakens it.

The edges

The edges are finished metal, so carry a plate by its sides rather than the face and you won't leave a print to clean off afterwards. Don't rest anything hard against the front.

Something on yours you're not sure about?

Send us a photo. We'll tell you what it is and whether it comes off - and if it's our fault, we'll replace the plate.
